SSC CHSL
Combined Higher secondary level exam also known as CHSL. It is conducted by Staff Selection Commission to recruit for various posts like:
- Postal Assistant (PA)/ Sorting Assistant (SA)
- Data Entry Operator (DEO)

Essential Requirements for SSC CHSL Application
- To apply for PA, SA, LDC, or JSA candidates must have passed the 12th standard or any equivalent examination.
- To apply for DEO or Data Entry Operator candidates must have passed the 12th examination with science or maths as a subject or any equivalent examination.
Age limit
- Candidates applying for various posts must be between the age of 18- 27 years.
- All women, people belonging to SC, ST categories, physically disabled people, and ex-servicemen eligible for the reservation and exempted from paying the fees.

- Tier 2 (also includes skill test and typing test)

SSC CHSL EXAM PATTERN FOR TIER 1
- Tier 1 consists of multiple-choice questions
- Tier 1 is qualifying in nature
- Tier 1 is an online exam
- Total marks will be 60
- Each question consists of 2 marks
- There will be a negative marking of 1/2 mark.
- It consists questions of all 4 sections.
EXAM PATTERN FOR TIER 2
Tier 2 consists of 2 sessions – session 1 and session 2 on the same day.
Session I will include Section l and Section ll and Module -1 of Section ll
Session ll will include module -2 of Section ll.
It will be mandatory for the candidates to qualify for all Tier 2 sections.
- Tier 2 will consist of objective multiple-type questions except for module ll of Section ll. The questions will be set in English and Hindi except for module ll in section ll.
- There will be a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer in Section I, Section II, and Module I of Section III. Candidates are advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions.
- Module I of Section III i.e. Computer Knowledge Test is mandatory but qualifying in nature.
- Skill Test/ Typing Test will be of qualifying nature
Part A – Skill Test for the post of DEO/ DEO Grade ‘A’:
Data Entry Speed of 8,000 (Eight Thousand) Key Depressions per hour on the Computer will be adjudged based on the correct entry of words/ key depressions as per the given passage.
Part B – Typing Test for other posts i.e. LDC/ JSA:
Candidates opting for English medium should have a typing speed of 35 words per minute (w.p.m.). Those opting for Hindi medium should have a typing speed of 30 words per minute (w.p.m.). 35 w.p.m. and 30 w.p.m. correspond to about 10500 key depressions per hour and about 9000 key depressions per hour respectively.
